About This Site
This site was created to alert Neocatechumenal Way members and their loved ones to the dangers the group causes. It makes the thesis that grave psychological, economic, spiritual, and even bodily harm is done to members, and that the founders of the group are responsible in not taking any steps to eliminate these problems.
I founded it to help members become free of the Way's control, and to give resources to friends and family members who are being shut out from the lives of Way members and want support in helping the member gain their freedom again.
This site does not pressure members to reject all of the Way, but the bad aspects: tithing, arranged marriages, psychological abuse, money scams, and rejection of the outside world. I also do not tell members anything along the lines of, "it's just a cult, you were fooled; it was all fake!" Just because bad things happen in the Way doesn't mean the good parts were imaginary or must be cast aside. It's likely many members believe what their teachings are right and that dishonesty towards lower members is "for their own good". If you genuinely believe in what you found while inside, it's likely other members do as well. Nor do I claim the Way must be dismantled. However, all members must stop taking part in the destructive practices.
I created this site because a long distance friend I have stopped contact with me, and was obviously influenced by the Way in doing so. He was kind, funny, friendly, intelligent, handsome, deep, spiritual, and talented. He broke off contact with no explanation, and I've been grieving ever since. My story here.
I have numerous testimonies from members of the Way and their families. Some are written in foreign languages and must be translated. As of now I can only use Google Translate, which is not perfect, but the articles are readable enough to discern what is happening in the persons' lives. At a future date, I will have them translated by a human being.
There are a lot of documents and articles here of technical or liturgical violations the Neocatechumenal Way is guilty of. Though not everyone who comes to this site is Catholic or Christian, we can all agree it's dishonest and rude for Kiko and Carmen to demand to be accepted in the Catholic Church while refusing to follow their traditions and rules. A number of these documents are in foreign languages, but they too can be translated online or with the help of a professional translator in the future.
Even better, we have important information from the secret documents Kiko and Carmen keep hidden from the public and most of their own members. They contain incriminating statements like "make sure not to tell this to the people", and "if people find out about this they will quickly leave." They also detail the founders' plans for their followers, including the scrutinies members must pass in order to "graduate" to the next level.
Under the "Untying The Knot" section, there are sites and contacts to help you get people out of the clutches of the Way. Keep in mind, not all these sources agree on the best way to help sufferers but they are there to help and it's best to try them out. Never give up on trying to free yourself or your loved ones from the Way. There is always hope.
My ideas for helping people escape the authority of the Way are unique. It may seem strange to suggest members hold onto parts of the Way or view it positively if they wish. I also comment in a non-removed manner about the elements or practices of the Way, such as analyzing their opinions about sin or morality. Many exit strategists feel unprofessional or opinionated giving their views on such topics because they think they should be "objective" or "removed". This is not and never will be my style. I believe no aspect of human life should be overlooked. In fact, the overlooking of so-called "subjective" or spiritual aspects by our society is what drives people to accept these imperfect groups in the first place. Also, how do we fix problems people have within these areas of life if we do not seriously analyze them?
The information on this site will be used to help people make a better decision about their involvement in the Way, and to help them stop the destructive practices that harm themselves and loved ones. It will also be used to bring any fraud or abuse to the attention of the proper authorities, including civil ones.
